I am CRAZY about your art, yet, I don't think I've ever commented before? XD
Your character designs are gorgeous! Better than any I've ever seen. I mean, look at the Ice royals. they're so cute! *o* How do you think when you design a character? How do you find inspiration for their amazing clothes?
wowowow thank you! hahaa! I had noticed your name many times before in my messages box! Q 7 Q I'm really happy you like my art, lily, hehehehe! ^ q^
Thanks so much! Hmm, I like to think of designs based on their colour schemes, so that's what I try to think of first! The colours can also represent their personality~~ so something subdued and less saturated is more suitable for someone who is mature, or reserved and quiet. Crazy spunky colours work best for excitable characters and really ooutgoing personalities. ^^
And for the outfits, I will try to think of a time period or geographical area for the influence. For example, I want to make a delicate and graceful character, so I think of dancers (tutus? ballet? ) and maybe piano music (maybe I can incorporate parchment texture or colour from music sheets? or the black and white contrast of the piano keys?) Mostly, feel free to associate whatever comes to mind with your character and use it as an inspiration for their clothing colours and shapes. ^^b
And another great thing to do to pull the outfit together is to have some kind of repeating pattern or shape, like having stripes in multiple pieces of clothes.
